Loving husband, father, grandfather and brother
THOMASTON - It is with great sadness and broken hearts that the family of John Richard Eddy, age 83, of Thomaston, announce his passing on July 9, 2024, at Waterbury Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Sally J. (Slike) Eddy.
Mr. Eddy was born on September 16th, 1940, the son of the late Willis L. Eddy and Elizabeth (Brink) Eddy. John was born and raised in New York and eventually moved to Connecticut. John was a United States Army Veteran and proudly served his country for 8 years including tours of duty in the Vietnam War. He enjoyed canoeing, camping, traveling and seeing the world and was an avid reader. John was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was loyal to his family and his fondest and most treasured time were spent with his loving family.
Left to honor his memory besides his wife, Sally are his children; Christopher Eddy of Waterbury, and Lauren Medina and her husband, Carlos of Watertown, his grandchildren; Tyler and Elliot of Watertown, his brother, Jerry Eddy of Ohio and his sister, Sally Layman of NY. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and many close friends.
Calling hours will take place on Sunday evening July 14, 2024 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. A private funeral service for family and close friends with full military honors for Mr. Eddy will be held on Monday, July 15, 2024 at 10:30 A.M. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main St Waterbury, CT 06705.
