Devoted Mother, and Grandmother.

WATERBURY – Yvonne (Desroches) Godsil, age 89, of Waterbury passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at Autumn Lake Health Care at Bucks Hill. She was the widow of William Godsil.

Yvonne was born on November 2, 1934 in Freeport Long Island to the late Lucien and Cecile (Nantel) Desroches. She grew up in Manhattan with her parents and three brothers. She attended and
graduated from Richmond Hill High School. In 1966, she moved to Waterbury where she
remained until her passing. Yvonne worked at Mattatuck Manufacturing for approximately
thirty years. She was the mother of five children, all of whom she raised primarily on her own
after the loss of her husband. She worked incredibly hard to provide a full and happy life for her
kids, all while creating meaningful and lasting memories. Yvonne was known in the family to be very fashionable as she always kept up with the latest trends. From her wardrobe to her choices in home décor; she was full of style. She often shopped QVC and her family believes she was one of their main patrons based upon her plethora purchases. Yvonne was also an avid reader. Her favorite author was Danielle Steel and it is likely she had read all of her books during her lifetime. Yvonne also had an extensive doll collection which she loved and instilled that same appreciation into the younger generations of the family as well. She will be greatly missed by all those who were blessed to have known and love her.

Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memory are her three sons, Michael Godsil and his longtime partner Anna, of Naugatuck, Rich Godsil and his wife Janice Godsil of Waterbury and Paul Godsil of Waterbury. She also leaves behind six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and five great, great grandchildren, along with extended family and friends. Yvonne was predeceased by her daughters, Michelle Godsil and Diane O’Donnell.

All services will be held privately at the convenience of her family. Yvonne will be buried next to her daughter in Calvary Cemetery Waterbury, Ct.
