WATERBURY – It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that the family of Yasmin M. Rodriguez, age 62, of Waterbury, shares new of her unexpected but peaceful passing on March 23, 2026 at Saint Mary’s Hospital after a brief illness. 

Yasmin was Born on July 13, 1963, in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, the daughter of the late Luis and Awilda (Nieves) Rodriguez. Yasmin carried the warmth of her island home in her heart throughout her life. While she spent some years in Boston and Waterbury, her spirit remained deeply connected to the vibrant culture and beauty of Puerto Rico. Yasmin was a devoted homemaker, pouring her love into caring for her family and friends. She took great joy in her role, nurturing the bonds that defined her life and fostering an environment filled with love and laughter. She loved to read everything and everywhere, loved dancing salsa, playing bingo, dominoes and doing crosswords. She found peace in the simple yet profound beauty of sunsets and tending to her beloved houseplants. Yasmin's greatest delight came from her grandchildren, to whom she offered her unwavering love and support, and treasured the time she spent with her family. A natural caregiver, she was always ready to step in as a babysitter, sharing her heart with not only her family but also friends in need. 

Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memory are her sons; Giovanni Montanez of Naugatuck and Joshua Montanez of Waterbury. She also leaves her brother, Luis Rodriguez Jr of Bridgeport and her three grandchildren as well as other extended family member and many friends. As we bid farewell to Yasmin M. Rodriguez Nieves, we remember her radiant smile, her nurturing soul, and the love she imparted to all who knew her. May her spirit find eternal peace, and may we carry her legacy of love in our hearts forever.

A memorial gathering form Mrs. Rodriguez will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at Casey’ s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation care at 1987 East Main St Waterbury, CT 06705 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Burial will be held privately and at her family's convenience.
