Obituary

WATERBURY- It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that the family of William “Bill” K. Ward, age 83, of Waterbury but formerly of the Bronx, New York say farewell for now to our devoted father, grandfather, brother and friend, following his peaceful passing on Thursday, August 13, 2026.

Bill was born on July 21, 1943, in the Bronx, New York, the beloved son of the late Thomas P. and Mary (Smith) Ward. Bill grew up just blocks from Yankee Stadium, where he developed a passion for sports early in life, excelling as a track athlete and set a New York State record while attending Fordham PrepHigh School. His love for competition continued throughout his life as an avid fan of the New York Yankees and New York Giants and as a track enthusiast. He was a Human Resource Specialist at IBMfor 30 years and moved to Waterbury with his family in 1988. He became an active member of the Waterbury Lodge of Elks #265 and was an active volunteer with his time to the house and youth committee events. He also shared his love for baseball as a coach for East Mountain Youth Baseball. He loved going to the beach, watching sunsets and horses and enjoyed traveling to Saratoga Springs.

Bill will be forever remembered for his warm spirit, great sense of humor, and the love he had for his family. Bill was very grateful to all his friends throughout his entire lifetime. He will be missed dearly but will live on in the hearts of all those who had the privilege to know and love him.

Left to cherish his memory and honor his legacy are his children: Cristina Perriello and her husband Robert, Jennifer Chamberland and her husband Chad, Brian Ward and his wife Nancy, Roger Ward and his wife Kim, Tyler Ward and his wife Karen, William Ward and his wife Lynn and his grandchildren: Aviana, Giada, Brennan, Evan, Jace, Asher, Violet, Kyle, Colleen, Erin and Vivienne. He also leaves behind his brother, Thomas Ward, his dear friend Rita Cotarelo Pelletier, other extended family members and beloved friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Ward will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Mary Mother of the Church parish, St Leo the Great Church 15 Bentwood Dr Waterbury CT.
