MORRIS - Mr. William P. Johnson, age 77, of Morris, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was the widower of Terryann Johnson to whom he was married for 48 years.

Bill was born on Nov. 23, 1946, in Bristol, the son of the late Walter Smith and Hannah Lavinia (Stephenson) Johnson. He was a graduate of Bristol Central High School, University of Connecticut, and University of Hartford. He proudly served his country with the U.S. Coast Guard, stationed in Maine, and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service. Bill enjoyed hiking, fishing, kayaking, and gardening. The foundation of Bill's life, upon which everything else rested, was his deep and joyful faith in Jesus Christ. He was a member of New Hope Anglican Church in Oakville, where he served as treasurer and was very active in the video/ sound ministry. The joy of his life was serving others and sharing the gospel message. Bill trained as a Chaplain with the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team, deploying to communities across the country to minister to people whose lives and homes were ravaged by natural disasters. His compassionate heart, listening ear, and faithful prayers blessed so many who lost so much. He will undoubtedly be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love him.

Left to honor his legacy and cherish his memory are his two daughters, Denise Crosby and her husband, Richard, of Harwinton and Stacy LaPerriere and her husband, Chad, of Morris. He also leaves 15 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and his brother, George Johnson.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at New Hope Anglican Church, 167 Buckingham St. in Oakville. Following mass, attendees are invited to stay for a lunch gathering at the church.
