Obituary

OAKVILLE - William R. Cavalari, age 82, of Oakville, CT passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on April 4, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He has been reunited with his beloved wife, Marion (Szerafinski) Cavalari of 38 years. He leaves behind a legacy of dedication to family, work, and community.

Born on August 24, 1943, in Taylor, PA to the late William G. and Anna (Davis) Cavalari, William was a proud graduate of Moosic High School. After high school, he moved to CT to start his journey as a toolmaker by going to night school at Kaynor Tech and Waterbury State Tech. Through hard work and dedication, progressed to become an Eyelet Toolroom Manager in the manufacturing industry. He was widely respected for his skill, leadership, and strong work ethic. Throughout his career he worked at Scovill Manufacturing Company, Century Brass, Anchor, and Lakewood Metals.

William found great joy outdoors and could often be found fishing, hunting, or enjoying a round of golf. He was well known in his community as a dedicated Little League softball coach, where he spent many years coaching his daughters. In later years, he became his grandchildren’s biggest fan, rarely missing an opportunity to cheer them on in their various sports and activities. William was a life long fan of the New York Yankees and the UCONN men's and women's basketball teams.

A devoted father, William leaves behind two daughters: Karen Blake and her husband Kenneth of Watertown, and Sharon Lutkus and her husband Daniel of Oakville. He was a proud and cherished grandfather to five grandchildren: Kelly Vescera and her husband Mike; Cory Lutkus and his fiancée, Kelsey; Allison Blake; Danielle Lutkus; and Eric Blake and his wife Courtney as well as two great grandchildren, who knew him as Poppy - Tate and Penny Vescera. He is also survived by his siblings, John Cavalari, James Cavalari, and Diane Zutant. As well as his companion, Mary Ann Benemeritto.

Besides his parents and his wife, William was predeceased by his companion, MaryAnn Henry of 11 years and his brother Floyd Cavalari.

He will be remembered for his kindness, his unwavering support for his family, and the lasting impact he made on all who knew him. The family would like to thank Iwona for the care she provided to Willliam.

Graveside funeral services for Mr. Cavalari will be held Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 11 a.m. At Mount Olivet Cemetery 669 Platt Rd, Watertown, Ct 06795. All those planning to attend are asked to meet directly at the cemetery. The Casey-O'Neill Funeral Home 742 Main St Oakville CT 06779 has been honored to assist the family during this difficult time.
