Mr. Wayne Laraway

December 16, 1945 — November 13, 2023

WATERBURY–Wayne Florian Laraway, age 77, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away unexpectedly on November, 13, 2023 at Waterbury Hospital in the loving presence of his wife and daughter.
Wayne was born on December 16, 1945, in Waterbury, Connecticut to the late Kenneth Marshall
and Ruth Florian Laraway. Upon graduation from Wilby High School, he enlisted in the United
States Army at the age of 18 and attained the rank of Sergeant. He fought valiantly with the 1st
Cavalry Division in Vietnam from 1965-1966 and was awarded a Bronze Star Medal with “V”
Device and the Purple Heart for his heroism and courage. He graduated from Post College and
the American Institute of Baking. After his service, he worked as a baker at Reymond’s Baking
Company/Sunbeam Bread and Pepperidge Farm, retiring after 44 years. Wayne instilled in his family the value of hard work and his love of sports. A proud grandfather, he enjoyed attending every athletic event and academic achievement. With patience and humor, he taught his children and grandchildren how to swim, bike, and drive. Quite the wordsmith, he crafted cards and poetry for every milestone. He was deeply loved by his family who will miss his steadfast presence, his smile, quick wit, sarcasm, keen sense of direction, and sparkling blue eyes.

He is survived by “the most wonderful woman in the world”, his devoted wife of 58 years,
Cecilia "Cissy" (Connelly) Laraway, his daughter Christine Campasano and her husband Jim, his
grandson and best friend, Griffin Dorman, granddaughters Isabelle Dorman and Olivia
Campasano, brother-in-law Michael Connelly, sister-in-law Janet Connelly, and several nieces
and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Kenneth and John and sister, Bev. He also
leaves his daughter, Amy Banach and her children, Luke, Matthew and Molly.

Funeral Services for Wayne will be held privately at the convenience of his family. He will be buried in Calvary Cemetery.with full military honors.
