NEW HAVEN – Wanda I. Perez age 57, of New Haven, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love and comfort of her family on Thursday September 21, 2023 at St Francis Hospital in Hartford after an extended illness. She was the devoted wife of Alex Acosta.
Wanda was born on June 25, 1966 in Penuelas P.R. the daughter of the late Ediduvna Rodriguez and Antonio Perez and she was educated in local schools. Wanda had a great passion for helping others and worked tirelessly for the food banks and shelters in the greater New Haven area. She was well known for her hours of volunteer work, especially among the poor and hungry. But what was most important to Wanda was her family, most especially her husband, her children, grandchildren, brothers and sisters. Wanda will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love her.
Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memory, beside her husband Alex are her children; Jesus Arroyo, Esteban Garica and ShandaLisa Garcia, her stepdad, Luis Array, her siblings; Elizabeth Array, Sandra Array and many others from her father’s side. Wanda was blessed with four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Madeline Perez and her brother Reynaldo Perez.
Funeral services for Mrs. Perez will be held on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. from Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care 1987 East Main St Waterbury to Todos Los Santos, All Saints Parish, St Anne’s Church 509 South Main St Waterbury to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in New Pine Grove Cemetery, Waterbury. Relatives and friends may visit with the Perez family on Wednesday morning at the funeral home from 8:30 until the procession leaves for church at 10:15.
