WATERBURY – It is with profound sadness that the family of Vito Schiavo age 68 of Waterbury, share the news of his passing on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at Hartford Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of Diane (Santos) Schiavo.
Mr. Schiavo was born on April 10, 1957 in Waterbury, the son of the late Leonard and Martha (O’Connor) Schiavo. He was a lifelong resident of Waterbury and educated in local schools. He worked for many years in the family business as a sheet metal artisan. Vito was passionate to the point of perfection in everything he did. Music was a large part of Vito’s life from the early age of 9. He was a talented drummer who played in many local bands. One of his many passions also included drag racing, fabricating and restoring classic cars. Later in life, he enjoyed tending to his beautiful garden. Vito lived a life as bold and vibrant as his spirit. He leaves behind a legacy of love, adventure and unforgettable memories. Above all else his greatest pleasure came from being a father, grandfather and husband. He felt very blessed to be the grandfather of 5 beautiful grandchildren who were truly his pride and joy.
Left to honor Vito’s legacy and cherish his memory, besides his devoted wife, Diane are his children; Angela Lucke and her husband Edward of TN, and his son, Vito Jr. of Waterbury. He also leaves his sister, Victoria Schiavo of Naugatuck and his grandchildren; Vincent, Dempsey, James, August and Elizabeth. He was sadly predeceased by his son, Anthony and his daughterm Liza Marie, and his brother, Rocco.
Funeral services for Mr. Schiavo will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025 at 11:30 a.m. when a “Beautiful Farewell” a celebration of his life, will be held at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care 1987 East Main St Waterbury CT 06705. Burial will be held at the convenience of his family.
