BRISTOL- Mr. Virgil James “V.J. Morgan, age 79, affectionately known as “Pop” and “VJ”, left this world on October 6, 2025, surrounded by the love and care of his family.
Virgil was born January 6, 1946 in Notasulga, Alabama son of the late Woodrow and Stella Morgan. Virgil joined Beulah Baptist Church of Notasulga, Alabama, at an early age. Virgil James was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Carrie Alice Chapman. To this union, three sons were born; Markus from Bristol, Reggie from Waterbury, and Jeffrey from Bristol. He never met a stranger; he was a friend to everyone he met.
Left to honor and cherish his memories are his brothers; Charles Morgan and his wife Betty of Tuskagee, Alabama and Robert Williams and his wife Sandra of Detroit, Michigan, his sisters; Stella Adams and her husband John of Tuskagee, Alabama, Teresa Morgan and her husband James of Anniston, Alabama, and Rita Stroud and her husband Curtis of Upatoi, Georgia, two wonderful sister in laws; Wyleen Morgan of Waterbury and Elizabeth Williams of Notasulga, Alabama and daughter in law Tasherra Morgan from Waterbury. He also has 10 grandchildren and two aunts Erma Ruth Dilday and Cassie Jackson and a host of nieces, nephews and other extended family members and friends. He was predeceased by his four brothers; Samuel Lee Morgan, Lou Gene Williams, Willie Jean Williams, and Johnny Lee Williams.
Funeral services for Mr. Morgan will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at 11:00 am at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main Street, Waterbury. Burial will follow at New Pine Grove Cemetery, Waterbury. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects on Wednesday morning from 10:00 am until the time of the service at 11:00 am.
