Mrs. Theresa Nardozzi

September 3, 1933 — February 13, 2023

Devoted to her family and her faith

WATERBURY - Theresa Mary (Pronovost) Nardozzi age 89, was beckoned by the Lord on February 13, 2023. She was the widow of Francis T. Nardozzi.

Theresa was born in Waterbury on September 3, 1933 to the late Lydia (Brouillette) and George Pronovost. She graduated from Wilby High School, class of 1951 and spent her career as a secretary, briefly at the Credit Bureau and Baldwin Manufacturing, followed by Thinsheet Metals where she remained until 1968 when she left to raise her family and work as a secretary and bookkeeper for Helen’s Bakery. In 1982 she became a school secretary for the Waterbury Board of Education where she remained until her retirement in 2001. A devout Roman Catholic she was a life-long parishioner of St. Anne’s in Waterbury serving on the Parish Council, Ladies of St. Anne Society, the Blessed Sacrament Society, Friends of St. Anne Church Restoration Fund, and as an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist, visiting nursing homes and personal homes until she was no longer to physically able to do so. Theresa was proud to serve as Waterbury’s “French Mayor of the Day” in 2004 and was humbled to be honored by the Archdiocese of Hartford with the Legion of Merit Award. She was extremely proud of her French-Canadian heritage and took pleasure in her trips to Canada and France where she was able to trace her family lineage to the year 1542. She very much enjoyed her travels through much of Europe on pilgrimages to holy sites and to attend passion plays. Theresa was unique in so many ways, she made the world a better place for all of us, and we are all blessed and thankful to have had her in our lives.

Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memory are her son, Dr. James Nardozzi and his wife Dr. Amanda Nardozzi and her grandson, Julian Nardozzi. She also leaves her step grandchildren; Niki Tyrrell, Erika Tyrrell, and Ryan Devan along with many, many nieces, nephews, as well as her sister-in-law, Yvette Pronovost. She was pre-deceased by her brothers Charles, George, and Roger, as well as her sisters Rita Wilson and Cecile Blanchette.
