FLORIDA- It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that the family of Mrs. Sharon Way, age 86, of Leesburg, Florida, shares the news of her passing on January, 28th, 2026, in Lady Lake, Florida, after a brief illness.
Sharon was born in Waterbury, Connecticut, on March 13th, 1939, the daughter of the late Edward and Beatrice (Atwood) Regan. She attended Crosby High School and the St. Mary's School of Nursing before beginning her work as a Registered Nurse for thirty-five years, the last ten of which she spent working for the state of Connecticut.
While Sharon was proud of the work she completed, her family proved to be her greatest honor. She married her high school sweetheart, Kelly Way, on September 19th, 1959. Together, they had five children. She cherished the time spent cheering them on from the stands at football, baseball and soccer games, and track and swim meets. She encouraged her children to competitively Irish dance, leading to the family's many trips to Ireland for the World Irish Dance Championship.
After her retirement in 2002, Sharon and Kelly moved to Leesburg, Florida, to be in the sunshine. Sharon was involved in her new community through her membership in the St. Paul Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus - she could be found regularly donating her time to her parish as a Rosary maker. During their retirement, Sharon and Kelly also made time to travel. Some of their favorite trips included Alaska, the Caribbean, Colorado, Las Vegas (we still have no clue how much money she won at the casinos), and family outings to Disney and her favorite place, Cape Cod.
Sharon's memory will live on in the hearts of the family she so deeply loved: her husband; her sister, Mary Claire Pellitier; her children, Patrick and Carolyn Way, Julia and James Christian, Sherry and Alex Kobani, Carol Way, Michael and Danielle Way; her grandchildren, Bryan, Brandon, Nicholas, Johnathan, Kelly, Michael, Aidan, Katherine, Sara, and Michaela; her seven great-grandchildren, Lyla, Landry, Camden, Riley, Malcom, Nella, and Chloe; her neices and nephews; and her great-neices and nephews.
Sharon was predeceased by her siblings Teddy, Barbara, and Larry.
The Way family would like to thank the staff at Cornerstone Casa House in Lady Lake, Florida, for their exceptional care and compassion for Sharon.
Sharon would want us all to remember: "It's not the years in life, it's the life in years".
Funeral services for Mrs. Way will be held on Monday, February 23, 2026 at 10:00 a.m.at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, 74 West Main St Waterbury, when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial with follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, 669 Platt Rd, Watertown, CT 06795.
