Mr. Sewsankar Gurdat

WATERBURY- It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that the family of Sewsankar Gurdat, age 79, of Waterbury, share the news of his passing on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at Saint Mary’s Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Latchmin Gurdat.

Sewsankar was born in Guyana, on June 26, 1946, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Gurdat. He dedicated much of his life to his family in Guyana, where he nurtured a loving household and instilled strong values in his children. In 2007, he immigrated to New York, seeking new opportunities for himself and his family. In 2021, he moved to Waterbury, Connecticut with his loving family. He was married for 58 wonderful years, a testament to his commitment to his family. He found joy in simple pleasures, whether it was watching a cricket match on TV, tending to his garden, or engaging with family time. His fondness for being connected through social media brought smiles and laughter to many. He was not just a proud grandfather and great-grandfather; he was a guiding light in the lives of those he loved.

Besides his wife Latchmin of 58 years, left to honor and cherish his memories are his children, Vidya and her husband Ramo, Rado and her husband Rako, Indro and her husband Govin, Somo, Sukhou, and Kuntee and her husband Radesh, his grandchildren; Bayo, Bako, Tisha, Ryan, Navo, Leena, Preya, Finey, Ravi, Dillan, Divya, Tasha, Suraj, Darshanie and Chinie, his 18 great- grandchildren and his sibling; Sonson. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family members and friends. He was predeceased by his son Jake, his grandson Ravin, his siblings Katelyn, Mummy, Data, Alice, Anirude and Deodat. As we reflect on Sewsankar's life, we remember a man who valued love, laughter, and connection above all else. He leaves behind a legacy of dedication and warmth that will resonate within the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. May he rest in peace.

Funeral services for Mr. Gurdat will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at 9:30 a.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main Street, Waterbury, CT 06705. Final committal services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
