WATERTOWN- It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that the family of Scott Hassel, age 71, of Watertown, shares the news of his peaceful passing on Saturday, May 16, 2026, in the comfort of his own home, surrounded by his loved ones.
Scott was born on July 17, 1954, in Watertown, Connecticut, the beloved son of the late William and June (Gagnon) Hassel. Scott was a lifelong resident of Watertown and someone whose friendships and presence touched many lives. Scott graduated from Watertown High School and later retired from Marshalls in Watertown. For more than 40 years, he was also known for his skill and passion as a golf club fitter and builder, helping many golfers enjoy the game he loved so much.
An avid golfer, Scott was a longtime member of the Crest brook Park Men’s Golf Association, where he built countless friendships over the years. One of the highlights of his week was spending time on the course, enjoying a round of golf and a shot or two of Fireball with his best friend, JoJo. He also enjoyed spending time with friends in his bowling league at Thomaston Lanes.
Scotty will be deeply missed by the daughter he never had Jojo, family and the many friends whose lives he touched with his kindness, humor, and companionship. May the memories shared and friendships made through the years continue to bring comfort and smiles to all who knew him.

Friends and relatives may visit with the Hassel family on Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Sunset Grille.
