Obituary

WATERBURY — It is with heavy hearts that the family of Ms. Sally Mae (Ettson) Baucom shares the news of her peaceful passing on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at Yale New Haven Hospital surrounded by the blessed love of her family.

Sally was born on May 18, 1945, in Thomasville, North Carolina, the beloved daughter of the late George and Anna Mae (Crawley) Ettson. Sally took great pride in her work as a Laundry Attendant/Housekeeper and would work tirelessly until the time of her retirement from Beacon Brook Health Center in Naugatuck. Sally found immense joy in music and was a beloved member of her church community. She served faithfully on the usher board and lent her beautiful voice to the church choir, where her passion for singing brought comfort and inspiration to many. Her deep faith was evident in her love for reading the Bible and attending church services regularly. Beyond her church activities, Sally treasured the moments spent with her family, particularly her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. She also loved engaging in long, heartfelt conversations with her girlfriends, sharing laughter and support over the phone. Sally's kindness, warmth, and unwavering spirit touched the lives of all who knew her. She will be remembered for her gentle heart and the joy she brought to those around her.

Left to honor her memory and legacy, is her daughter, Tracy Baucom, her best friend, Emalene, her grandchildren; Tyeisha Baucom, Richard Ettson, Rashime Ettson, Nakita Baucom, Markiea Baucom, David Watson, Timothy Minnifield and Ra’Zhanay Watson, and her nieces and nephews, Sheila, Twan, Carlton, and Jermall. Sally also leaves behind a host of great-grandkids, great-great-grandkids, cousins, extended family members, and friends. Beside her parents, Sally was predeceased by her daughters, Georgette Ettson and Valerie Baucom Watson, her brother, Raymond Ettson, her sisters Cornelia “Nokie” Beasley, Georgetta Ferguson, and Janey Ettson, as well as her nephews, Tyrone and Cedrick.
