WATERBURY- It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Rustico Cruz Morales, age 83, of Waterbury, shares the news of his peaceful passing on Friday, March 27, 2026, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved significant other of Felicita Acosta for 48 years.

Rustico was born on November 21, 1942, in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico, the son of the late Roque Cruz and Isabel Morales. He attended local schools and later worked as a machine operator in the manufacturing industry for many years. Rustico was a proud father of eight, who cherished his family above all. An avid Boston Red Sox fan, Rustico was known for his spirited rooting for his team as well as for bringing that same enthusiasm to the domino table, where he enjoyed countless hours of friendly competition with friends and family. In addition to his love for sports and games, Rustico was an adventurous spirit, always eager to explore new places and make lasting memories during family vacations. He adored his loyal dog, Coco, who was a constant companion and source of joy in his life. A loving son, companion, father and grandfather, he will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love him.

Left to honor his legacy and cherish his memory besides his significant other, Felicita, are his children; Ed (Lisa) Cruz, Awilda (Michael) Caisse, Luis Cruz, Rustico Cruz Jr., Elizabeth Cruz, Angel (Madeline) Garcia, and Maria (Bernard) Berube, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, along with extended family and friends. Rustico was predeceased by his son, David Cruz.

A Memorial Service for Rustico will be held on Wednesday, April 08, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main Street, Waterbury, CT, 06705. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects and visit with Rustico’s family on Wednesday evening from 5:00 until the service commences at 6:00 p.m. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of his family.
