WATERBURY- It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Rose D. (DeMeo) Aureli, age 93, of Waterbury, shares the news of her peaceful passing on Monday, March 23, 2026, at Cheshire House in Waterbury, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved widow of Joseph N. Aureli.
Rose was born on November 21, 1932, in Waterbury, Connecticut, the beloved daughter of the late Edward and Theresa (Tedesco) DeMeo. She was a lifelong resident of Waterbury and graduated from Wilby High School. She was a dedicated homemaker and she nurtured her four sons with unwavering love, care and endless support. She found immense joy in cooking delicious meals for her family and creating treasured memories during family vacations, especially Cape Cod, Boston and Lake George. A simple yet profound person, Rose specialized in embracing the little things in life. Her love for reading and sharing stories was matched only by her passion for spending quality time with her family.
Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memory are her sons; Francis Aureli, Edward Aureli and his wife Desiree Fortier, Steve Aureli and his wife Emily Sheppeard and Joseph A. Aureli and his wife Genevieve. Rose and Joseph were blessed with two grandchildren Lynn Aureli (and her husband Erik Cerone) and Mitchell Aureli and two step- grandchildren Matthew Bennett and Nancy Bevill. She also leaves behind many cousins, especially her beloved cousin and roommate, Louise Valenti and other extended family members and friends. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 54 years, Joseph N. Aureli and her cousin Jennie Kelly who was like a sister to her.
Funeral services for Mrs. Aureli will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Casey Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main Street, Waterbury. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects and visit with her family on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the service commences at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. In this time of reflection, the family welcomes all who knew and loved Rose to share messages of condolence, comfort, and cherished memories.
