Obituary

WATERBURY — It is with profound sadness and extraordinarily heavy hearts that the family of Mr. Rolando “Moyo” Torres, age 57, of Waterbury, share the news of his peaceful passing on June 17, 2026, in the comfort of his own home surrounded by the love and care of his family. He was the husband of Mrs. Isabel (Labranch) Torres to whom he was married for 18 years.

Moyo was born on April, 21, 1969 in Reading, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Rafael and Santa (Garcia) Gomez. Moyo had a profound love for the natural world, frequently finding joy and peace in its beauty. His fondness for gathering around bonfires, sharing stories and laughter with loved ones, created countless cherished memories that will forever warm the hearts of those he leaves behind. His greatest joy, however, was his family. Moyo devoted his life to nurturing and uplifting them, demonstrating the true meaning of unconditional love. His compassion for others and his selfless nature endeared him to many, creating an indelible mark on the lives he touched.

Left to honor his memory and cherish his legacy are his three brothers, three sisters, five stepdaughters, 29 step grandchildren, 3 step great-grandsons, as well as many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends. Besides his parents, Moyo was predeceased by his stepdaughter, Jamayra Vicente.

Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects and visit with Moyo’s family on Thursday, July 2, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care 1987 East Main St Waterbury CT 06705. Burial will follow at New Pine Grove Cemetery. In this time of reflection, the family welcomes all who knew and loved Moyo to share messages of condolence, comfort, and cherished memories.
