Obituary

WOLCOTT – With profound sadness and heavy hearts, the family of Mr. Roland Dupre, age 89 of Wolcott, shares the news of his peaceful passing on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Midstate Medical Center, surrounded by the love of his family. He was the beloved husband of Rita (Boucher) Dupre, to whom he had been married to for 65 years.

Roland was born on October 04, 1936, in Waterbury, CT, the son of the late Albert and Roseanne (Houle) Dupre. He grew up on a farm in Vermont, graduated from local schools, and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and National Guard. After his military service, Roland went on to work as a Supervisor at Pratt and Whitney for 37 years. Roland was a distinguished member of the Knights of Columbus council 3961, where he held the positions of Grand Knight and Faithful Navigator. His commitment to community service extended to the American Legion Post 165, where he served as Commander, Chaplain, and Historian. An active parishioner at St. Basil the Great Parish, Saint Pius X Church, Roland was the long-time Membership Chairman, playing a vital role in the church's construction and growth. His dedication to the Town of Wolcott was evident in his role as Constable and as an active member of the Wolcott, Zoning Board of Appeals. In recognition of his many contributions, Roland was honored as Wolcott’s “Mayor for the Day”, reflecting his deep ties to the community which he loved. A die-hard Yankee fan, Roland was known not only for his love of baseball but also for his famous French baked beans. Roland's greatest joy came from his extraordinary 65-year marriage to his beloved wife, Rita. Their deep love and devotion to one another were an inspiration to all who knew them. Together, they built a beautiful life, filled with laughter, support, and cherished memories. He cherished quiet moments on the back porch with Rita and found his greatest joy in time spent with his grandchildren, whose lives and values stand as a living legacy of his love, guidance, and example. Family and friends were always at the center of his world, and he was a steady source of support to all who knew him—ever willing to lend a hand or offer a word of encouragement. May his memory be a blessing, and may he rest in peace in the loving arms of the Lord, to whom he prayed each and every day.

Left to cherish and honor Roland’s memory beside his wife, are his children; Joanne (Steven) Sanzone, Jacqueline (Domenic) Costantino, Michael (Donna) Dupre, Paul Dupre, and daughter in law, Lisa Dupre. Roland and Rita were blessed with 10 grandchildren; Shanelle Dupre, Mitchell (Caitlyn) Dupre, Philip Sanzone, Tyler (Kaya) Sanzone, Jessica Sanzone, Alexis Costantino, Blake Costantino, Nicholas (Cassandra) Dupre, Rebecca (Jonathan) Robinson, Edward Dupre, as well as 7 great grandchildren; Jonathan Dupre, Landon Sanzone, Oliver Sanzone, Casey Sanzone, Colton Dupre, Ella Dupre, and Juliette Dupre who is expected to arrive soon. He also leaves his sister, Pauline Zembrzuski, along with extended family and friends. Roland was predeceased by his son, Ronald Dupre, and sister, Bernice Longo.
