Loving Father Son, and Brother
WATERBURY - It is with profound sadness that the family of Robert A. Thomes, age 65 of Waterbury, announce his unexpected passing at the Vitas Innovative Care Unit at St Mary’s Hospital on Monday, September 30, 2024 surrounded by the love and comfort of his family. He was the widower of Cheryl L. Thomes
Bob was born December 19, 1958 in Waterbury, the son of Marion (Verrastro) Hennequin and the late Frederick Thomes. He was a graduate of Holy Cross High School and spent his working career contributing his talents to various manufacturing companies as a skilled machinist. Outside of work, Bob had a passion for sports and was an enthusiastic fan of the NY Giants and UCONN Basketball teams, and NASCAR racing. Fishing was another pastime he cherished. Above all else, Bob treasured his role as a devoted father. He supported his daughter and all her endeavors, including her cheerleading competitions, which allowed him to travel the country and create lasting memories with her and his late wife, Cheryl. Bob will be sadly missed by all who were blessed to know and love him.
Left to honor his legacy and cherish his memory is his beloved daughter, Alyssa Farrington, and her husband, Michael of Prospect; his sister, Kathy Volz and her husband Brian; his nieces and nephews, Katie (Ben) Brown, Erin (Pat) Lerz, Brian and Matthew (Mary) Volz, and his great niece Madison Brown as well as his aunts Antoinette Impressa, and Janice Zembruski.
Funeral services for Mr. Thomes will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at The Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, 74 West Main St Waterbury. Those planning to attend are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in Middlebury Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with Roberts's family on Friday, October 4th, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main St Waterbury, CT 06705.
