Devoted husband, father and grandfather
WATERBURY- Robert "Bob" P. Ryan of Waterbury, age 77, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2024, at the Vitas Unit of St. Mary's Hospital after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Robert maintained his kindness, bravery, and deep love for his family until the very end. He was the loving husband of Anita Louise (Geremia) Ryan.
Bob was born on February 12, 1947, in Waterbury, CT, the son of the late Joseph and Ruth (Pelletier) Ryan of Prospect. Bob graduated from Quinnipiac University with a master's degree in accounting. He proudly served six years in the Connecticut National Guard, and he retired from The Hartford Insurance, where he spent many years working as an accountant. Bob enjoyed golfing and was a member of the EMMGA (East Mountains Mens Golf Association) and also enjoyed; fishing, the NY Yankees, summers in Misquamicut, but most of all, spending time with the love of his life and best friend, Anita.
Left to honor his legacy and cherish his memory besides his beloved wife, Anita Ryan of 53 years, his daughter, Donna Lopez and husband, Ramon of Prospect, his four grandchildren: Ryan Williams, Emma Lopez, Michael Lopez, Jennifer Petronella, and great-granddaughter, Vera. He is also survived by his beloved brother, Gerard Ryan of Watertown, and his wife, Nancy, along with several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Ryan will be held on Friday, August 9th, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Anthony's Church, 4 Union City Road, Prospect. Those planning to attend are kindly asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in New St Joseph's Cemetery, Waterbury. To honor Robert's memory and in lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer's Association or Vitas Hospice Inpatient Unit 56 Franklin St., 4th Floor, Waterbury, CT 06706 would be greatly appreciated by his family.
