Obituary

WATERBURY — It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that the family of Mr. Robert John Morency, affectionately known as “Bob”, “Rob”, “Moose”, and many other nicknames, shares the news of his passing on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at Yale New Haven Hospital surrounded by the love of his family.

Robert was born on September 5, 1960, in Waterbury, the son of the late William and Julia (Donahue) Morency. Robert’s family will forever remember him as a compassionate and caring individual who truly lived for those he loved. Bob took immense joy in family gatherings, particularly during Christmas and Thanksgiving, where his laughter and warmth brought everyone together. Robert’s love for the Boston Red Sox was matched only by his devotion to the Grateful Dead, filling countless days with cherished melodies and good times. He had a special affinity for dogs as well, particularly for his beloved basset hound, Lady, who was always by his side. He will be greatly missed and forever remembered by all those who were blessed to know and love him.

Left to honor his memory and cherish his legacy are his brother, Joseph “Joe” Morency and his wife Sue-Ann of Massachusetts, his nephew, Spencer of New York, his niece, Simone (Morency) Skenderian and her husband, Don of Massachusetts, as well as a beloved great-nephew, Cooper. Robert also leaves behind many loving cousins and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects and visit with Robert’s family on Thursday, June 25, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main Street, Waterbury, CT, 06705. In this time of reflection, the family welcomes all who knew and loved Robert to share messages of condolence, comfort, and cherished memories.
