WOLCOTT — It is with heavy hearts that the family of Mr. Robert E. “Bob” Likley Jr., age 93, say farewell for now, to our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, following his peaceful passing on Sunday, September 20, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He was the beloved widow of Mrs. Dolores R. (Fama) Likley.

Bob was born on December 12, 1932, in Waterbury, Connecticut, the son of the late Robert E. Likley Sr. and Eva M. (Roberts) Likley. In his younger years, Bob was an avid athlete and played catcher for a local amateur baseball team. The teamwork, discipline, and friendships he developed on the field remained treasured memories throughout his life. After marrying Dolores and raising a family, he discovered another passion through painting. Bob especially enjoyed creating portraits and leaves behind a collection of artwork that serves as a lasting reminder of his creativity, patience, and appreciation for the people he loved. Outside of work, Bob found great joy in bowling and was a longtime participant in the Sunday Morning Doubles League at Lakewood Lanes. He also treasured the countless hours spent with family around his in-ground swimming pool, where generations of his family gathered to laugh, play, and create memories that will last a lifetime. Whether hosting family gatherings, sharing stories, or simply enjoying the company of those he loved, Bob found his greatest happiness in the time spent with family.

He lived a dignified life defined by enormous generosity, respect, and kindness towards others. He was a constant pillar of strength, love, and support to his family. A proud United States Army veteran, he served his country during the Korean War as a Radioman. His patriotism and service were a great privilege he carried throughout his life. Following his military service, Bob built a successful career as an Electrical Controls Engineer for Risdon Corporation, where he earned the respect of colleagues through his knowledge, dedication, and strong work ethic. A longtime member of Wolcott VFW Post 1979, Bob remained proud of his military service and valued the camaraderie he shared with fellow veterans.

Bob will be remembered for his strength, wisdom, kindness, sense of humor, and unwavering devotion to those he loved. His legacy lives on through the generations he helped shape and the many lives he touched. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in the hearts of his family and friends. Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dolores R. (Fama) Likley, with whom he shared 67 years of marriage. Together they built a loving home and family that became the center of his life. The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers, medical professionals, relatives, and friends who provided support, comfort, and compassion during Bob's final days.

Left to honor his memory and cherish his legacy are his children; Robert K. Likley Sr. and his wife, Nelida (Borrero) Likley, Kimberly E. Likley, Lisa M. (Likley) Smith and her husband, Joe Smith, and David J. Likley Sr. Robert and Dolores were blessed with many beloved grandchildren; Kristi N. Likley and her partner, Kenneth Hanks, David J. Likley Jr., Jessica L. Likley, Michele L. (Likley) Chouinard and her husband, Brian G. Chouinard, and Robert K. Likley Jr. and his partner, Summer Slowinski, along with his great-grandchildren; Karson A. Hanks and Zackary B. Chouinard. Bob also leaves behind many cherished cousins, extended family members, and dear friends. Besides his parents and beloved wife, Bob was predeceased by his cherished great-grandson, Keagen A. Hanks whose memory he carried in his heart.

Funeral services for Bob will be held on Monday, October 5, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Wolcott Congregational Church, 185 Center St, Wolcott, CT 06716. There are no calling hours. Those planning to attend are asked kindly to meet directly at the church. Burial with full military honors will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, 95 Flanders Street, Southington, CT 06489.
