Mr. Robert Ercoli

June 19, 1947 — July 20, 2025

WATERBURY - It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that the family of Robert Ercoli, age 78, of Waterbury, share the news of hispeaceful passing on Sunday, July 20th, 2025, in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family after an extended illness. He was the loving and loyal husband to Lori (Donovan) Ercoli, his partner in everything, especially love, for 54 years. Together they built a life grounded in love, tradition, and enduring values.

Robert “Bob” Ercoli was born in Waterbury on June 19, 1947, to the late Philip and Louise (DeSantis) Ercoli. He graduated from W.F. Kaynor Technical High School, where he trained as a draftsman. After high school, he worked in Scovill Manufacturing Company as an estimator, where he met his future mother in-law, Ellen Donovan. In 1968, he joined the Army and proudly served his country while stationed in Vietnam in the 1st Calvary Unit as a helicopter repairman. Upon honorable discharge, he began his career as a computer operator at Timex Corp in Middlebury and then worked for 35 years at Colonial Bank, which later became Bank of America. He rose to the position of Data Processing Operations Officer and held various roles over the years, ultimately becoming an IT Facilities Planner. He enjoyed participating in his golf league with his golfing partner Ron. Bob’s golf club was like a divining rod for both water and sand. He bowled in the duckpin league for many years. During his retirement years, he enjoyed tea parties with his granddaughter, providing childcare for his grandson and relaxing in the gazebo with his wife. He also delighted in the sweets and chocolates his family secretly smuggled to him. For years since his diagnosis, Bob was cared for at the West Haven VA, by Dr. Elise Wong, the team at ATU, the Chemo Unit and many others whose kindness and support meant the world to his family. Their support has been a godsend. Recently, he was cared for with compassion and dignity by Beacon Hospice, his nurses: Heather and Kathy. Bob’s life was a testament to loyalty, humor, humility, and love. He will be remembered for his steady presence, his kind heart, and his gratitude.

Left to honor his legacy and cherish his memories besides his wife, Lori are his children, Michelle Bellemare and her husband, John, and Michael Ercoli; his beloved grandchildren: Maggie Bellemare, Joseph Bellemare, Michael Ercoli and Sophia Ercoli; his adored sister, Donna Griffin; sisters in-laws: Lois, Patricia, Arlene, Margaret, Kathleen, and Ann Marie; brothers in law: Greg, Peter, Tony and Jeff; and his cherished nieces and nephews. Robert was pre-deceased by his brother Philip Ercoli, Jr. and his daughter in-law Annmarie.
