U.S. Air Force Veteran

OAKVILLE – Richard Belden Palmer, age 75 of Oakville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at the Cheshire House following a courageous battle with cancer.

Richard was born on September 30, 1948 in Waterbury, CT, the son of the late Robert Lincoln and Dorothy (Leferve) Palmer. He graduated from Watertown High School and went on to work for the Watertown Board of Education for over 20 years. Richard proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and was also a member of the American Legion. He was an avid fan of UCONN sports, along with the New York Mets and New York Jets to which he attended many games with his brother, Bob.

Left to honor his legacy and cherish his memory are his brother, Robert Palmer and his nephew, Christian Palmer of Milton, Massachusetts along with extended family members and friends.

Funeral Service for Mr. Palmer will be held on Friday, November 10, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at the Casey-O’Neill Funeral Home, 742 Main St. Oakville. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Watertown. Relatives and friends may visit with Richard’s family on Friday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the service begins at 10:00 am.
