Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather
OAKVILLE - Richard Carey Sr, 75 of Oakville, passed away unexpectedly at Waterbury Hospital on Friday, January 4th 2019, with the love of his life, his wife, Honey, by his side.
Richard was born March 12, 1943 in Waterbury, son of the late Ernest and Edna Carey. A graduate of Crosby High School, Richard was a truck driver for all of his adult life. He worked for Lombard Brothers then lived his dream for many years as founder of Carey Trucking with his young sons traveling with him. He was a legendary truck driver. He then went on to O&G Industries until his retirement.
In addition to his loving wife, Honey, Richard leaves to cherish his memory, his two sons; Richard Jr and his wife, Karla of Plymouth and Robert and his wife, Heather of Oakville. His greatest treasure was being Papa to his two granddaughters, Kate-Lynn and Ava who were the apple of his eye. He enjoyed putting them on the school bus and always sneaking them cookies and treats. He also enjoyed camping and boating at the river with his sons, family and friends. Retiring to him was meeting the guys every day at the diner and back home to watch The Price Is Right with his Honey. Every Sunday at 6:30 pm was family supper, with a lot of fun and laughter. Everywhere he went someone would know him. He was loved and respected by everyone and he will be sadly missed by all who were blessed to know and love him.
Honoring his personal wishes, funeral services for Mr. Carey will be held privately at the convenience of his family.
