WATERBURY - It is with heavy hearts that the family of Mr. Richard Blais, age 74, of Waterbury, say farewell for now to our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, following his peaceful passing on Oct. 3, 2026 in the comfort of his home, surrounded by the love of his family. He was the beloved husband of Mrs. Linda (Wheeler) Blais for 52 wonderful years.
Richard was born on June 14, 1952, in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, the son of the late Gerard and Constance (Peloquin) Blais. Born and raised in the vibrant community of Woonsocket, Richard lived a life filled with adventure, love, and commitment to those around him. After beginning his higher education at Bryant College, Richard proudly served as a U.S. Navy Reservist for eight years, embodying the values of duty and service.
In the early 1980s, he moved to Connecticut with his cherished wife and family, where they built a happy home filled with laughter and love. Richard dedicated many years of his career to Gerald Metals, where he was as a hard worker and friend to his colleagues. Richard found joy in the simple yet fulfilling moments of life-whether it was on the golf course, enthusiastically playing cards with friends, or gathering around the table with family, sharing stories, and creating lasting memories. His ability to connect with others deeply enriched the lives of those around him. His legacy lives on through his family and friends, who remember him as a gentle soul, a supportive presence, and just a fun guy to be with.
Left to honor his memory and cherish his legacy, beside his devoted wife, Linda, are his children; Michael Blais of Waterbury and Annabelle Coffey and her husband Paul of Enfield, as well as his cherished grandchildren; Kendall Coffey and Resse Coffey of Enfield. Richard also leaves behind several extended family members, and friends. Besides his parents, Richard was also predeceased by his brother, Raymond Blais.
Calling hours for Richard will be held on Saturday, Oct. 17 from noon to 2 p.m. at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main St, Waterbury, CT 06705. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In this time of reflection, the family welcomes all who knew and loved Richard to share messages of condolence, comfort, and cherished memories.
