WATERBURY- It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Ricardo Costa age 79 of Waterbury, shares the news of his peaceful passing on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at Hartford Hospital, surrounded by his loving family after an extended illness. He was the devoted husband of Fernanda Costa.
Ricardo was born on February 4, 1947, in Escariz, Vila Real Portugal the son of the late Joaquin Costa and Maria de Lourdes Alves dos Santos. Ricardo worked for many years as a welder at Atlantic Pipe and was a member of the CT Laborers Union #611. Ricardo was very proud of his heritage and was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church and was an active member of the Waterbury Portuguese Sports Club. Family and community were most important to Ricardo and he will be forever missed by all those who were blessed to know and love him. May his memory be an eternal blessing.
Left to honor and cherish his memory besides his best friend and wife Fernanda of 40 years, are his sister, Celia Santos Costa of Portugal and many nieces and nephews living in both the US and Portugal. He was predeceased by his 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
Funeral services for Mr. Costs will be held on Friday, February 27, 2026, when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Fatima Church at 10:00 a.m. Those planning to attend are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
