IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Raymond
Tierney
July 28, 1946 – November 10, 2025
MERIDEN - It is with profound sadness that the family of Raymond F. Tierney Jr (Sandy), age 79, of Meriden, shares the news of his peaceful passing surrounded by loving family on Monday, November 10, 2025, at Complete Care of Meriden after an extended illness.
Raymond (Sandy) was born on July 28, 1946 in Meriden, the son of the late Raymond F. Sr. and Claire (Morenz) Tierney. He was educated in local schools and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era where he was awarded The Purple Heart. Following his honorable discharge, he was employed for many years as a tool and die maker at New Departure in Bristol. He spent most of his life as a Meriden resident and Sandy had a longtime hobby of Quarter Midget racing at the Silver City Raceway both as a driver and an enthusiast. There were many things that you could count on Sandy to be, but the “life of the party” was something he was particularly good at. He will be greatly missed by all those who were blessed to know and love him.
He leaves to honor his memory his sister, Claire Marie Price, and his two nephews, Christopher and David Price, all of Port Macquarie,N.S.W., Australia. Raymond was predeceased by his brother-in-law Peter Price, and stepsisters Elizabeth Ann Murphy, Maryjoan Paluszewski and Patricia Sipples. Raymond is survived by his supportive and caring Aunt Audrey Hollman, as well as many close cousins and friends. A special heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Complete Care Daffodil Unit and family caregivers who were always there to brighten his day.
