Mrs. Phyllis L. Correia

Middlebury

“Beloved Wife, Mother, Sister, & Grandmother”

Phyllis L. Correia, 76, of Middlebury passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Yale New Haven Hospital. She was the wife of Michael A. Correia for nearly 50 years. Phyllis was born on December 10, 1948, in San Marco La Catola, Foggia, Italy. She was the daughter of the late Anthony and Mary (Colagrossi) D’Antino, and older sister to her deceased brother, Louis D’Antino. She was a graduate of Waterbury Catholic High School and attended both Mattatuck Community College and the University of Connecticut, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in social work. Prior to her retirement, Phyllis worked with a number of organizations that allowed her to service clients of all ages. She concluded her work as a Social Worker at a small facility in Roxbury, CT, where she worked alongside elderly clients. She took pride in supporting those around her and helping each person find value in their lives. Phyllis was a longtime parishioner of St. John of the Cross Church in Middlebury and St. Mary Magdalen Church in Oakville.

Family was everything to Phyllis. She enjoyed big and small gatherings, day trips with her husband, daily phone calls with her children and grandchildren, FaceTime Videos, and texts with updates about the day, where pictures were always included and became her new favorites. She enjoyed sipping her coffee, watching movies, gardening, spending time outside, and watching her grandchildren. Each summer, she looked forward to family vacations to New Hampshire and Cape Cod, where she would see her children and grandchildren come together to create new memories. These were the happiest days of her life. Phyllis was the heart of our family, a kind and spiritual woman, who would do anything she could to support her family.

Phyllis leaves behind her husband Michael Correia of Middlebury, CT, her son Michael Correia Jr., of Watertown, CT, her son Matthew Correia and his wife Jessica of Newtown, CT, her daughter Monica Erwin (Correia) and her husband Christopher of Middlebury, CT, and her son Joseph Correia and his wife Marissa of Beacon Falls, CT. She also leaves behind her grandchildren Bryce and Bailey Erwin, Liam and Noah Correia, and Ivy, Jesse, and Gavin Correia. Additionally, her niece Gina Hansen (D’Antino) and her husband Kris. Phyllis also leaves behind nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law, sisters- in law, and relatives in Italy.
