Devoted to her family

WATERBURY– Petra Flores, age of 82, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, May 24, 2023.

Petra was born and raised in Cayey, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Juan Flores and Fidela Concepcion. Petra moved to CT to start and raise her family. She was a loving and dedicated homemaker and mother who put her family’s needs above all else. She was also a foster mother to countless children in the area. Petra was a woman of profound faith and was an excellent cook. Her food brought everyone together and she made everything with love. She enjoyed reading and shopping. Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, she was loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure.

Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memories are her children; Zilka Lebron of Waterbury, Felix Vasquez Flores of Waterbury, Erica Flores of Waterbury, Shakira Vasquez Flores and her husband, Roberto Serrano of Waterbury. She also leaves her siblings, Angela Cabral, Gloria Flores, Victor Ortiz and his wife Rosa Irma. Petra was blessed with 6 grandchildren, Zilka Mireille, Xzayvion, Xzayvillys, Ishmael, Anayah, and Esmeralda. She also leaves her great-grandson, Devonta ‘DJ” as well as countless nieces and nephews and foster children who all held a special place in Petra’s heart. She is predeceased by her 4 brothers, her sister and her grandson, Luis Angelo Tiger Navarro.

Funeral services for Ms. Flores will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main St., Waterbury, CT 06705. Interment will follow in New Calvary Cemetery, Garden of Angels.
