Obituary

WATERTOWN- It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that the family of Patricia “Patty” M. Kearney, age 79, of Watertown, formerly of Waterbury, shares the news of her peaceful passing on Sunday, June 7, 2026 at UCONN - John Dempsey Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Patty was born on May 26, 1947 in Waterbury, Connecticut, the beloved daughter of the late John G. Sr., and Celestine (Wolff) Kearney. She lived most of her life in Waterbury, only living in Watertown for the last 6 years. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School and pursued her passion for Special Education at Southern Connecticut State University, where she earned a Master’s degree. Patty dedicated her life to teaching special education in Waterbury, where she inspired countless students with her unwavering compassion and commitment. She was an avid reader and loved spending time vacationing in Cape Cod, as she cherished sharing joyous times with family or moments of solitude there. She loved spending time with her family more than anything. She will be deeply missed by her family and those who knew her.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at Apple Rehab in Watertown and to the staff at Yale New HavenHospital and UCONN - John Dempsey Hospital for their care, compassion, kindness and support they gave Patty.

Left to honor and cherish her memory, are her siblings: Lorraine Kearney of White Plains, NY and Joseph Kearney and his wife Stacey of Windham. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family members and beloved friends. She was predeceased by her brother, John “Jack” Kearney Jr.

All services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main Street, Waterbury, Ct, 06705, has been honored to assist the Kearney family during this most difficult time.
