WATERBURY - Patricia M. Goggin, age 87 of Waterbury, passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, December 20, 2022. She was the widow of John F. Goggin.
Patricia was born on Friday September 13, 1935, in Boston the oldest child of the late Atty Edward M. McMahon and Ellen (O’Brien) McMahon. Pat received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts and her master’s in Education and a fifth-year certificate in Reading from Central Connecticut State University. She taught for one year at Polk School in Watertown and then 36 years in the Waterbury Public Schools; 5 years at Bishop School and 31 years at Washington School. After her retirement from Waterbury, Pat served as an Adjunct Professor and Supervisor of Student Teacher Interns for the University of Bridgeport from 1997 until June of 2019. Pat also assisted her husband, John, in his real estate and insurance business. Patricia enjoyed reading and poetry as well as her hobby of growing flowers and houseplants. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Loreto Church as well as the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception. Patricia will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love her.
Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memory is her son, Brian T. Goggin of Waterbury, her grandchildren, Erin and Jack Goggin of Waterbury, her sister, Sheila McMahon Walsh and her husband John of Naples NY. She also leaves her sisters-in law, Anne Goggin Carey and Elizabeth “Betty” Goggin of Prospect, her brother-in-law, Edmond Goggin of Southington, and many nieces and nephews of the Goggin and McMahon families. She was predeceased by her brother, Kevin McMahon of MA.
Funeral services for Mrs. Goggin will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. from Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd Waterbury to the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, 74 West Main St, Waterbury to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. which will be celebrated by the Rev Michael Dolan. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with Pat’s family on Wednesday morning from 9:00a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
