WATERBURY- It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that the family of Mrs. Patricia (Long) George, age 79 of Waterbury, shares the news of her peaceful passing on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at the Apple Rehabilitation Center of Watertown after a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Gary George.
Patricia was born on March 13, 1946, in Waterbury, the beloved daughter of the late Edward and Susan (O’Dea) Long. She was educated in local schools and went on to graduate from St. Mary’s School of Nursing, proudly beginning her lifelong vocation as a registered nurse. Pat dedicated her entire career to St. Mary’s Hospital, where for decades she cared for countless patients — friends, neighbors, and strangers alike — with compassion, skill, and a nurturing touch that left a lasting impact on all who were blessed to be in her care. She retired in 2011 after a life of service that was marked by both excellence and devotion. Outside of work, Pat delighted in the simple joys of life. She loved tending to her garden, browsing through shops, and was rarely without the loyal companionship of her beloved dogs. A woman of grace and class, Pat lived her faith deeply. As a devout Roman Catholic and proud parishioner of Our Lady of Loreto Church, she found significant meaning in serving as a Eucharistic Minister.
Above all else, Pat’s greatest joy was found in her family. She treasured her daughter and every moment spent with her two grandsons. Her love for her family was boundless, and her role as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother was where she excelled most beautifully. Patricia leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and kindness — a life rich in accomplishment, passion, and tender devotion. She instilled in her daughter a strong work ethic and the importance of family, while being a foundation of joy and growth. Though she has left this earthly life, her spirit will continue to inspire, and her memory will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Rest now in peace, Pat. Your legacy of love, laughter, and caring will live on forever.
Left to honor and cherish her memory are her daughter, Ann Marie Wright and her husband, Floyd, with whom Patricia made her home, and their two sons; Jackson and Carter, as well as several cousins from the Mulhall and O'Dea families and a large network of close friends.
