WATERBURY - It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Ms. Nicole “Nikki” Andrea Melillo Bachand, age 51, of Waterbury, shares the news of her passing after a five-month long battle, on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at Yale New Haven Hospital. She was the beloved fiancé of Daniel Edwards.

Nikki was born on March 1, 1975, in Waterbury, the daughter of the late Anthony “Babe” and Louise (Gianelli) Melillo. As a dedicated homemaker and caregiver, Nicole poured her heart into nurturing her son, Michael, and was a guiding light in his life. Her love for her family was unparalleled, and she was known as a "momager” and a “coach” by them, titles she wore proudly as she kept her family united through thick and thin. Nikki had an extraordinary gift for creating a loving and welcoming home, taking great pride in its decor and charm. Her home was her sanctuary, beautifully decorated and filled with love. Her enthusiasm for life extended to sharing drinks and laughter with friends and indulging in shopping adventures with her daughters. Weekend afternoons were often filled with laughter as she and Matthew enjoyed educational shows and stand-up comedy, connecting over shared moments that will forever remain in their hearts. Her love extended to her two beloved dogs, Binx and Ollie, who brought her immense joy and companionship. Together with her fiancé, Daniel, they created a world filled with laughter, love, and adventure, often running a stand at the flea market or dining at their favorite spot, Sam the Clams, where memories of shared meals and laughter will be cherished forever.

Left to honor and cherish her memory, beside her beloved fiancé, Daniel, are her children; Michael Bachand of Waterbury, Matthew Bachand of Waterbury, Danielle Edwards of Waterbury, and Sage Edwards of Seymour. She also leaves behind her beloved dogs, Ollie and Binx.

A Memorial Gathering for Ms. Melillo Bachand will be held on Friday, May 22, 2026, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main Street, Waterbury. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of her family.
