OAKVILLE – Nicholas Anthony Bartone Sr., age 94, of Oakville, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 07, 2023 at The Vitas Hospice Innovative Care Unit of Saint Mary’s Hospital after a brief illness surrounded by the love and comfort of his family. He was the husband of Florence (Bavone) Bartone for 67 devoted years.
Nicholas was born on September 02, 1928, in Oakville, CT, the son of the late Pasqual and Mary (Minillo) Bartone. He was educated in local schools and worked for many years at Hartley Tool and Dye where he retired after decades of work. He instilled in his children a strong work ethic, the
importance of family and his heritage. Nicholas enjoyed fishing, hunting ,bowling and took great pride tending to his vegetable gardens.. Nicholas was enormously proud of his growing family and he cherished spending time with them, especially his many grandchildren. He will be deeply missed but his warmth, kindness, and genoristy will be forever remembered by all who were blessed to know and love him. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
Left to honor his legacy and cherish his memory besides his wife are his children; Nicholas (Billi Jo) Bartone Jr., Patrick (Luz) Bartone, Mark Bartone, and Kathy Bartone. Grandchildren; Robert, Gabriel, Cherish, Lisa, Thania, Kenia, Gustavo, Christeen, Jason, Julie, Melonie, Prestin, Jessie, and Maya, 12 great grandchildren, Siblings; Carmela, Nancy and Tony, along with nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. Nicholas was predeceased by his two grandsons; Nicholas III and Johnathon.
Funeral service for Mr. Bartone Sr. will be held Monday, August 14, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Casey-O’Neill Funeral home. Burial to follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Watertown. Relatives and friends may visit with the Bartone family on Monday morning, August 14, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 at Casey-O’Neill Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 742 Main St Oakville CT 06779.
