Nicholas Apicella

July 7, 1921 — December 20, 2007

FORT LAUDERDALE FL- Nicholas Apicella, age 86, formerly of Port Richey Florida and long time resident of Watertown, died unexpectedly Thursday, December 20, 2007 at his home.. He was the widower of Theresa Fortier who died in 1981 and Fedora Whitehouse who died in November 2006.

Nicholas was born in Waterbury on July 7, 1921, the son of the late Joseph and Angelina (Amore) Apicella. He was educated in the Waterbury School System and entered the US Navy, where he proudly served his country during World War II. He worked as a mechanic at both Chase Brass & Copper and Scovill Mfg. but spent the majority of his working life as a Building Contractor. He had been a Watertown resident for 35 years and moved to Florida 25 years ago. He was a parishioner of St Mary Magdalen Church for many years.

Mr. Apicella is survived by two sons, Nicholas Apicella of Waterbury and Joseph M. Apicella of Oakville, two daughters, Ms Darleen Lockwood of FT Lauderdale FL and Mrs. Theresa
Timoteo,of Meriden CT, a brother, Edward Apicella of Waterbury and two sisters, Eleanor Guisto and Edith Grasso both of Waterbury as well as 11 grandchildren, 10 Great grandchildren and 3 Great, Great Grandchildren and well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Mrs. Phyllis Buccini.

Funeral services for Mr. Apicella will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2007 at 10:30am from the O'Neill Funeral Home, 742 Main Street Oakville to Saint Mary Magdalen Church for Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am. Burial with full military honors will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Watertown. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Thursday morning from 9:30 until the time of departure for church services.
