Obituary

WATERBURY - It is with profound sadness that the family of Wilhelmina (Correia) Plourde, age 91, shares the news of her peaceful passing in the comfort of her home, surrounded by the love and care of her family, on Friday, December 5th, 2025. She was the devoted wife of Joseph Plourde.

Born on December 20, 1933 in Waterbury, CT, the daughter of the late Joao De Sousa Correia and Maria de Conceicas. Wilhelmina devoted her life to nurturing and caring for those she loved, leaving an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know and love her, especially her family. Wilhelmina was married to the love of her life, Joseph Plourde, for an incredible 67 years. Together, they built a beautiful family and shared countless memories filled with laughter and love. As a dedicated homemaker, her greatest joy came from caring for her husband and children. She also lovingly tended to her parents and siblings and welcomed the opportunity to assist friends and neighbors, embodying the spirit of compassion and generosity. At the heart of Wilhelmina’s life was her love for cooking, which she expressed through preparing delicious meals that nourished both body and soul. An instinctive caretaker, she took immense pride in making sure that everyone around her was well-fed and appreciated. Beyond her culinary talents, Wilhelmina cherished traveling with her family, creating lasting memories through adventures both near and far. One of her most treasured experiences was visiting the Pacific Ocean in California, a journey that filled her heart with joy that she often recounted. Wilhelmina had a penchant for discovering local bakeries, often delighting her loved ones with sweet treats and bargains she found along her travels. Her generosity knew no bounds, and her home was always open to offer warmth and companionship. She will be warmly remembered and her memory will be carried on in the hearts of those that loved her. Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memory, besides her husband, she leaves her children, Mary Ouellette of Waterbury, Joseph Plourde and his wife Sandra of Plainville, and Linda Verrilli and her husband Jim of Sarasota, FL. She also leaves her cherished granddaughter, Michelle Ouellette and her life partner, Sean Krofssik of Waterbury, as well as several brothers, sisters, many nieces and nephews, and other extended family members and friends. She is predeceased by her son, Michael Plourde
