Mrs. Eleanordawn Rose
Hughes
Apr 10, 1967 — Oct 12, 2026
HAMPTON, VA- It is with heavy hearts that the family of Mrs. Eleanordawn Rose Hughes, age 59, say farewell for now to our beloved mother, who passed away at Hampton VA Medical Center on Monday, October 12, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was the widow of Charles K. “Chuck” Hughes III who passed in 2001.
Eleanordawn was born on April 10, 1967, in New Haven, Connecticut. She grew up in Connecticut and after meeting her husband in Watertown, they built a life together rooted in love and family. Eventually, she came to Virginia after Chuck had passed, where she continued to make a lasting difference in the lives of those around her. Eleanordawn’s life was devoted to “service” , first as a proud member of both the United States Army and the United States Air Force. Her commitment to serving others continued long after her military service, becoming a guiding purpose in both her personal and professional life. As a devoted attorney advocating for disabled veterans through the Navy as a civilian contractor, she dedicated herself to ensuring that those who had served their country received the benefits and recognition they rightfully deserved. She tirelessly prepared appeals and fought alongside military members and veterans as they navigated difficult battles to secure their rights. With determination, compassion, and an unwavering sense of justice, she helped to build an entire office within the Navy in Virginia, devoted to representing military personnel and veterans rights, leaving behind a legacy of advocacy and service that touched countless lives.Beyond her remarkable career, she found happiness in the simple and meaningful things in life. She loved quilting, pouring her creativity and care into every piece, and treasured the time she spent with her family. Her heart, however, extended far beyond her own household. She was a mother to many, welcoming her family's friends as though they were her own and making everyone feel loved and supported. She leaves behind a legacy of courage, kindness, and devotion that will continue to live on in the countless lives she touched and the family she loved so dearly.
Left to cherish and honor her memory are her children: Charles K. Hughes IV, Alyssa O’Reilly and her husband James and Israel Warner and his wife April in addition to them are many other extended family members and beloved friends. Besides her husband, Chuck, she was predeceased by her daughter, Serenity Hughes Warner.
Funeral services were held privately at the convenience of the family. Eleanordawn was interred with her beloved husband in the State of CT Veterans Cemetery in Middletown.
