Mr. Donald Francis Savoy Sr.

WATERBURY - It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that the family of Donald F. Savoy Sr. age 62 of Waterbury, share the news of his unexpected passing on Sunday, June 22, 2025 at St. Mary’s Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Savoy was born on June 26, 1962 in Waterbury, the son of Bernice (Cathcart) DeFilice of Waterbury and the late Oscar Francis Savoy. He was educated in local schools and was a lifelong Waterbury resident. A graduate of Porter and Chester, Don worked as a truck driver for many years and enjoyed living life to the fullest. He had a great passion for cars, especially Ford mustangs. A devoted son, father, brother and grandfather his family meant everything to him and he was the type of person who would do anything for anybody. Don was especially proud of his son and his grandchildren as he attended each and every one of their life and sporting events. Over the past few years, Don battled stage 4 cancer with grace, dignity and great strength and was in remission when he was taken from us all too soon. We hope he finally enjoys the rest he so richly deserves.

Left to honor his memory and legacy besides his mother are his son, Donald F. Savoy Jr and his wife Juliana of Bristol, his brothers; Kenneth (Cathy) of Waterbury, Robert of Thomaston and Dennis (Denise) of Florida and his sisters; Lisa Savoy and Suzette and Sandy Millette all of Waterbury. Forever in his heart are his beloved grandchildren, Juel and Dominique Savoy as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members and friends.  Don’s family would like to acknowledge and thank the entire staff at St. Mary’s for the love and great care they shared with Don and his entire family.

Funeral services for Mr. Savoy will be held on Friday June 27, 2025 at 11:30 a.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main Street, Waterbury. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery Waterbury.
