WATERBURY- It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Carlos M. Anaya Sr., age 77, of Waterbury, shares the news of his peaceful passing on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was the widower of Griselle (Erba) Anaya.

Carlos was born on April 13, 1949 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, the beloved son of the late Raul and Maria (Semide) Anaya. He was raised in Puerto Rico and later immigrated to New York City, before making Waterbury his home in 1990. He dedicated his life to working as a diesel mechanic and truck driver, for Carlos, work was not just a means of livelihood; it was a passion that reflected his love for machinery and the open road. Beyond his work, Carlos was known for his deep love of music and the loyal companionship with his dogs. His quiet nature and patience endeared him to those who knew him, and his family was always the center of his universe. He will be deeply missed by his family and those who knew him.

Left to cherish and honor his memory are his daughters: Maria Rivera and her husband, Luis, Anabel Anaya, Denise Anaya and Carlos Anaya Jr., and his grandchildren: Grisell Rivera, Nicholas Rivera, Emily Deleon, Jeffrey Garcia, Jeysha Alicia, Kimberly Alicia, Andrew Alicia, Savannah Alicia, Samantha Gomez, Jamar Gomez and Megan Gomez. He also leaves behind many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family members and beloved friends. He was predeceased by several siblings.

A Memorial Gathering for Mr. Anaya will be held on Friday, May 8, 2026, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main Street, Waterbury. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of his family.
