WATERBURY -  It is with profound sadness that the family of Miss Elizabeth (Betsy) Greene, resident of Waterbury, CT, shares the news of her passing on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2026 at Complete Care at Middlebury, surrounded by family. 

Betsy was born in Waterbury on April 26, 1930, the daughter of the late William and Loretta (Delaney) Greene. She was a graduate of St. Margaret Grammar School, Waterbury Catholic High School and St, Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing. After starting at St. Mary’s Hospital, much of her healthcare career was as the practice nurse for Dr. Louis Olore. She retired after years of caring for patients at Abbott Terrace.

While she never had children, Betsy was a cherished aunt who enjoyed spending time with her nephews, niece and extended family. Her endless prayers and support have touched many lives over the years. As a devout Catholic, she was a long-time parishioner of St. Margaret Church and later joined Blessed Sacrament. Betsy’s spirit lives on in the hearts and memories of those she loved.

Betsy is survived by nephews William Greene (Rosalie Spinella), Paul Greene, Edward Greene (Nancy), Robert Greene (Patricia) and niece Loretta Gorman (Michael). She also leaves 16 great-nieces and nephews and 4 great-great nieces. She was predeceased by siblings Marcella Greene, John Greene, Sr. (Mary) and Sarah Greene, as well as nephew John Greene, Jr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 16, 2026, at Blessed Sacrament Church, 180 Robbins St., Waterbury. Those planning to attend are asked to kindly meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury. Relatives and friends may pay their respects and visit the Greene family on Thursday from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main St., Waterbury, CT 06705.
