Mrs. Mildred Minervini

October 7, 1923 — May 19, 2025

WOLCOTT- The family of Mildred (Kalweit) Minervini, age 101, of Wolcott, share news of her peaceful passing on Monday, May 19, 2025 at the Summit of Plantsville surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow Joseph Minervini to whom she was married to for 62 years.

Mildred was born on October 7, 1923, in Waterbury, CT, the daughter of the late Richard and Ella (Schmidt) Kalweit. She graduated from Leavenworth High School, and Waterbury Hospital School of Nursing where she obtained her nursing degree. Mildred dedicated many years as a caring, dedicated registered nurse at John Hopkins Hospital during WWII, many years at Waterbury Hospital, Laurel Heights Rehab Hospital in Shelton, and several other nursing homes in the greater Waterbury area. She insisted on renewing her nursing license every year including this year, even though she retired in 1985. Mildred enjoyed cooking and preparing delicious baked goods, which she enjoyed in the company of so many others. She spent time knitting, sewing, various crafts, bowling, and spending time in the sun at the beach. Mildred would take morning walks and exercise at the Wolcott senior center. She will be fondly remembered for giving the best hugs and was known for taking care of everyone. Mildred will be deeply missed by all those who were blessed to love and know her.

Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memory are her daughters; Lorrie Minervini of Wolcott, Jodie (Michael) Bannister of La Grange Park, IL. She leaves her grandchildren; Megan Bannister and husband Joshua Petersen of Windsor Heights, IA, Jeffrey Bannister of Chicago, Il, along with extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her sister, Doris Kalweit.

The Minervini family would like to thank the staff at the Summit of Plantsville, especially APRN Ronato Abastillas, and Barbara Blau for the compassionate care and love they shared with Mildred and her family.
