WATERBURY- Miguel Angel Cartagena, 27, of Waterbury died unexpectedly on Saturday, January 29, 2022 in Hartford.
Miguel was born in Caguas, Puerto Rico on April 12, 1994, son of Arlinda (Rivera) Gesner and Eliezer Cartagena. He was raised in Waterbury and graduated from Crosby High School in 2012. He became a certified auto mechanic completing his education at UTI in Norwood, MA and working at several local automotive service centers in Waterbury. He was a good friend, enthusiastic, loved to laugh and liked to talk a lot. Miguel found great satisfaction in building and taking things apart. He loved music, animals, breakdancing, and cars, especially BMW's. He will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know and love him.
Left to cherish his memory are his mother and step-father; Arlinda and Mark Gesner of Plainville, his brothers; Eliezer Cartagena of Manchester, Marcus and Devin Gesner of Plainville, his grandmothers; Anna Rosa Nunes of Waterbury, Carol Gesner of Torrington as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services for Miguel will be held on Friday February 4, 2022 at 6 p. m. at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of his family. Relatives and friends may visit with Miguel's family on Friday evening from 4:00 - 6:00pm We continue to remain very concerned about the ongoing pandemic so masks will be required during all indoor services regardless of your current vaccination status. The Casey Family is honored to care for the Cartagena and Gesner families during this difficult time.
