January 2, 1959 – December 23, 2025
WATERBURY – With much sadness and heavy hearts the family of Michael Joseph Rovero, age 66 of Waterbury, shares the news of his passing on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at Waterbury Hospital.
Michael was born January 2, 1959, in Waterbury, the son of the late August and Rita (Copes) Rovero. He graduated from Holy Cross High School in Waterbury and attended the University of New Hampshire in Durham, NH. Michael lived a life that was defined by simplicity and an enduring connection to the world around him. A daily walker, he would stroll 4-5 miles each day, ever attuned to the beauty of his surroundings. Even into his sixties, he carried bags from the grocery store, showcasing his strength and commitment to maintaining an active lifestyle. He cherished time spent with family, particularly his beloved aunt and uncle Virginia and Morton Tenzer, and later his cousins Rosemary McDermott and Patricia Felth, sharing meals, laughter, and the stories that forged familial bonds. Michael had a big appetite for life and for food, relishing every opportunity to join his cousins for lunch and enjoy the warmth of their company. Michael was not just a nature enthusiast; he was an adventurer at heart. He loved hiking and walking the trails, which brought him peace and reflection. Music filled his days, serving as the backdrop for many cherished memories and treasured moments with loved ones.
Left to cherish and honor Michael’s memory are numerous Copes and Rovero cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, August Rovero and Rita Copes, and many loving Copes and Rovero aunts and uncles.
Michael’s family would like to extend a warm thank-you to Connecticut Social Services, especially his social worker, Tamara, for their kindness and care.
