Waterbury

WATERBURY - It is with profound sadness that the family of Michael Joseph Boulos Macary, age 75 of Waterbury, shares the news of his peaceful passing in the comfort of his home on Friday, October 24, 2025, surrounded by his family after a valiant battle for many years with cancer. He was the husband of the late Louise (Barbieri) Macary, who passed in 2019.

Michael was born on April 27, 1950 in Waterbury, the son of the late Hameed Boulos Macary and Catherine (Assif) Macary. He was baptized at St. Peter and Paul Church in Waterbury, CT and graduated from SS Peter & Paul Elementary School and Crosby High School. He began working at the Street Department for the City of Waterbury in 1977 where he remained for 28 years. After retiring, he worked 10 years as a part-time C.D.L. driver for Prospect Sanitation and as a driver for 5 years at the Waterbury Republican American. Michael was a faithful communicant and steadfast supporter of Our Lady of Lebanon Church. Over the years, he worked the various festivals to help fund raise for the church. Michael enjoyed playing pool and bowling with different leagues. He especially enjoyed horse races and attending the annual Saratoga Racetrack with a group of friends. Michael most enjoyed socializing with his friends over a few drinks. Michael loved his family, faith, and the simple things in life. He was a man of few words, never complained, and was always honest and straightforward. Michael was exceptional in almost every way but he excelled the most at being a devoted husband, father, brother and grandfather.

Left to honor his memory and legacy are his children; Greg Kalosky of Waterbury,. Michael J. Macary Jr. of Wolcott Connecticut, Katie and Steve Fallon of Winsted, Connecticut, two grandchildren Nicholas and Alexander of Waterbury, CT. He also leaves his two sisters, Mary Demakes of Salem, Mass., Cauna Magner, and nephews Harry Demakes of Salem, Mass., and Keith Magner of Brockton, Mass. He was pre-deceased by his wife Louise (Barbieri) Macary and is mother-in-law Lorraine Barbieri whom he cared for after the passing of his wife.
