WOLCOTT- It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that the family of Michael Joseph DiMaria, age 68, of Wolcott, shares the news of his peaceful passing in the comfort of his home after a lengthy illness on Sunday, September 14, 2025.
Michael was born on May 23, 1957, in Waterbury, Connecticut, the son of the late Joseph and Nancy (Fasano) DiMaria. He was a graduate of Wolcott High School, and then proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Michael worked at Industrial Riggers as a rigger and then for Shaman Industries as a Millwright. An outdoor enthusiast, Michael had a profound love for camping and fishing. He enjoyed spending time on the beach and looked forward to his yearly trips to Aruba, where he could escape and embrace the tranquility of nature. His spirit of adventure was further exemplified by his passion for Harley Davidson motorcycles. Michael’s proudest accomplishment was winning Mr. Waterbury body building championship in 1987. Michael's legacy will live on in the memories of those who loved him. He will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, unwavering kindness, and the joy he brought to everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Michael’s family would like to thank Rebecca Borrero for all the compassionate care she provided to Michael throughout his illness.
Left to honor and cherish his memory is his sister, Sandra DiMaria, his niece, Rachael Bellemare, his three exceptional cousins; Marlene LeVasseur, Audrey Bongiorno, and Don Zero. Michael also leaves behind his two protective fur babies; Beau and Bella. He was predeceased by his sister, Wendy Bellemare.
Funeral services for Michael will be held on Friday, September 19th, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St Basil the Great Parish, Saint Pius X Church, 525 Woodtick Road, Wolcott CT 06716. Those planning to attend are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury. There are no calling hours.
