WATERBURY- It is with profound sadness that the family of MaryAnn Brodeur, age 79, of Waterbury, shares the news of her unexpected but peaceful passing on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 in the comfort of her own home. She was the beloved wife of Peter Brodeur.
MaryAnn was born in Waterbury, Connecticut on March 31, 1946, the beloved daughter of the late Paul and Mary (Nolan) Pronovost. As the second oldest of seven siblings, MaryAnn naturally stepped into a role of love and responsibility, quietly caring for those around her from an early age. A compassionate and devoted nurse, she faithfully served at St. Mary’s Hospital for 35 years, most notably in the pediatrics and oncology department, where her gentle presence and kind heart brought comfort to countless patients and families.
Her nurturing spirit extended well beyond her profession. MaryAnn found joy in life’s simple, cherished routines— savoring her coffee at anytime of the day, enjoying card games, spending peaceful moments with her beloved cat, Midnight, and staying closely connected with those she loved. Above all else, her daughters were the center of her world. She took immense pride in their lives and accomplishments and supported them with unwavering love in every way she could.
MaryAnn’s heart found its greatest happiness in her grandchildren, whom she adored beyond measure. She treasured time spent together, especially cheering them on at their school music events and sporting events—moments that brought her deep joy and lasting memories.
Those who knew MaryAnn will remember her most for her heartfelt devotion to family and friends. She will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege to know and love her.
Left to cherish and honor her memory besides her husband, Peter are her daughters; Jennifer Kusaila and her husband Vance of Goshen and Amanda Brencher and her husband Geoffrey of Middlebury, her grandchildren; Sophie Fenn, Matthew Kusaila, Andrew Lintzner and Ellie Brencher and her great- grandchildren; William Fenn and Lily Fenn. She also leaves her siblings; Paul Pronovost and his wife Kay, Linda Fodiman, Susan Sirica and Barbara Atwood and her husband Marc in addition to her many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her siblings; Bobby Pronovost and Theresa Pronovost; her brother-in law; Samuel Sirica and her beloved dog Oscar and beloved cat Ashley.
Funeral services for Mrs. Brodeur will be held on Monday, December 29, 2025 at 12 noon at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main St, Waterbury, CT 06705.
