Obituary

WATERBURY — It is with heavy hearts that the family of Mrs. Mary M. (Morrissey) Tanguay shares the news of her passing on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at Saint Mary’s Hospital surrounded by the blessed love of her family.

Mary was born on September 11, 1946, in Waterbury, the beloved daughter of the late Edward F. and Ann (DiDomizio) Morrissey. Mary graduated from high school and dedicated her career to the City of Waterbury, where she served as a Supervisor in the Tax Assessor's office. Her work reflected her unwavering commitment to her community and the countless individuals she assisted throughout her years of service. Beyond her profession, Mary was known for her kind and caring nature. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether she was cooking delicious meals for family and friends or tending to her beloved garden, where her favorite lilies and irises bloomed brightly. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her home; she was actively involved in her community as the President of the Saint Francis Xavier Ladies Guild for 25 years, a dedicated member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary 201, and a proud participant in the Hopeville Neighborhood Association.

Left to honor her memory and cherish her legacy is her dear sister, Kathleen Morrissey of Waterbury, as well as many cousins, extended family members, and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Tanguay will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. when a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Francis Xavier Church, 625 Baldwin St Waterbury. Those planning to attend are kindly asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Waterbury.
