Waterbury

WATERBURY - It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that the family of Mary E. Shea, age 83, of Waterbury, share the news of her peaceful passing on Friday, July 18, 2025, at the Vitas Unit of Saint Mary Hospital after a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of John P. "Jack" Shea.

Mary was born October 25, 1941 in Waterbury, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Mates) Tucker. A proud graduate of Waterbury Catholic High School, Mary dedicated her professional life to the City of Waterbury’s food service, serving as a Site Coordinator for several schools within the district. Her commitment to nurturing the community extended beyond her work, as she also spent 47 years as an AVON sales representative, bringing joy and personal connections to many. Mary's life centered around her family; she was deeply devoted to her beloved children and grandchildren. The happiest moments of her life were spent surrounded by her family, often engaging with her grandchildren through FaceTime on her iPad, a testament to her love and eagerness to stay connected with those who mattered most. As a devoted parishioner of the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, Mary demonstrated her faith through her nightly prayers, often reciting the rosary with unwavering devotion. Her spiritual strength and kindness were a beacon to her family and friends alike, and she will be missed dearly. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Mary lived a life rich in love and kindness, leaving a lasting impact on all who were blessed to know and love her. May she now rest in the loving arms of the Lord.

Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memories, besides her husband of 58 years, Jack, are her four sons: Michael and his wife, Angela, of Plantsville, Brian and his wife, Debra, of Bristol, Christopher and his partner, Holly, of Waterbury, and Kevin and his wife, Jessica, of Plantsville. In addition, she also leaves her siblings, Joseph Tucker of CA, Jane Capaldo and her husband Joseph of Waterbury, and Susan Pirruccio and her husband, Vincent of Georgia. Mary and Jack were blessed with five grandchildren who brought great joy to Mary's daily life: Lexy, Tralee, Sydney, Vivian, Brendan, and Connor. Mary also leaves several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
